SiliconSystems Affirms Support for SanDisk Legal Action
Oct 29, 2007 (12:10 PM EDT)
ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, today affirmed its support for SanDisk Corporation's announcement on October 25, 2007, to file patent infringement actions against certain companies that manufacture, sell and import USB flash drives, CompactFlash cards, multimedia cards, MP3/media players and other removable flash storage products.
"SiliconSystems has been a technology cross-licensee with SanDisk since 2003 and this agreement is one of the cornerstones of SiliconSystems' customer-first focus," stated Michael Hajeck, SiliconSystems' CEO. "We highly value our relationship with SanDisk and we have the utmost respect for their position as a pioneering leader in developing intellectual property related to solid-state storage technology. SiliconSystems is firmly committed to the legal framework governing intellectual property rights and we strongly endorse the protections afforded inventors under patent laws."
SiliconSystems' technology ownership and its SanDisk technology cross-license provide significant protection for its customers against the risk associated with third-party claims of infringement. Safeguarding customers from product infringement concerns also minimizes the risk of interruption in supply. This protection is another key benefit for customers doing business with SiliconSystems.
As a world leader in advanced storage technology, SiliconSystems has developed a substantial patent-protected technology portfolio addressing the burgeoning solid-state storage system and solid-state drive markets. SiliconSystems is among a select group of SanDisk licensees and the only licensee focused exclusively on the Enterprise System OEM market. SanDisk was an early-stage investor in SiliconSystems and remains a shareholder.
"The protection and lawful exploitation of intellectual property rights are fundamental to the translation of our technical know-how into market leadership. Unchecked infringement destroys the incentive to innovate and diminishes the return to the innovator. SiliconSystems' remarkable market success is largely a result of the substantial resources we have directed to R&D in order to advance our proprietary technology," Mr. Hajeck concluded.
SiliconSystems is a world leader in advanced storage technology engineered exclusively for the high performance, high reliability, multi-year product lifecycle requirements of the Enterprise System OEM market. The company's patented SiliconDrive technology exceeds the rigorous demands of applications in the netcom, military, industrial, interactive kiosk and medical markets. SiliconSystems is based in Aliso Viejo, California. Additional company and product information is available on the company's website at http://www.siliconsystems.com .
