Jun 21, 2007 (10:06 AM EDT)

HERNDON, Va., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The debate regarding when, how, and in what form the transition to the next generation of Internet protocol (IPv6) will happen has expired. The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) recently announced a policy directing companies wishing to obtain IP address blocks to register for IPv6 addresses instead of older IPv4 addresses. Tom Patterson, chief executive officer of Command Information ( ), the largest IPv6 solutions provider in America, will speak alongside ARIN executive, John Curran, at Burton Group Catalyst Conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, discussing next steps for companies making the transition.

"Command Information was formed to guide companies and government agencies through the upcoming transition," said Patterson. "There are a number of added benefits that surface when operating in an IPv6 environment, including true mobility, self-forming networks and end-to-end security models that provide new features and significant cost savings for companies of all sizes."

Patterson, whose speech begins at 9:45 a.m. in Continental Ballroom 6 of the San Francisco Hilton, will present a case study outlining what is happening in the IPv6 world, the applications and pilot projects that are gaining traction, and the reasons that large enterprises and government users are deploying IPv6 networks and applications.

Burton Group Catalyst Conference is for enterprise technologists working to drive change within organizations. The conference brings IT leaders together to learn about and discuss the most significant technology topics and complex issues faced by enterprise organizations.
