NEW YORK, May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Spy, one of the UK's largest entertainment and consumer technology websites, partnered with Taboola in October 2012 as a video growth initiative. Taboola provides its content recommendation platform to personalize the content discovery experience for Digital Spy's multiplatform audiences. The partnership will focus on capitalizing on the increasing demand for video advertising.
With over 200 original pieces of original content created daily, Digital Spy soared past 20 million monthly unique users in 2013, up 60% year one year. Digital Spy sits at the nexus of entertainment and technology, a position that ensures a daily output of original celebrity interviews, gadget reviews and exclusive trailers.
James Welsh, co-founder of Digital Spy and Digital Technology Director at Hearst UK, explained he was excited to begin working with Taboola. "At Hearst UK, we create great content for our customers and place tremendous value on the relationship we have with them. Ensuring we meet the core need of providing the right content at the right time is front and center. Taboola's engine helps us in that quest."
Serving 60 billion content recommendations in March to users visiting leading media sites like MailOnline, The Weather Channel and Bloomberg, Taboola is uniquely positioned to help Digital Spy grow its share of video and provide its advertisers with premium reach and scale.
Of the partnership, Taboola CEO Adam Singolda said, "I'm wowed with the results of Digital Spy's pilot. Crossing the threshold of 1 million streams, which Digital Spy did in March, is breaking the veritable glass ceiling many publishers face." Singolda added that, "Building a successful video business is a real challenge and might become vital in the years to come given video's unique monetization capability on desktop, and more important, on mobile."
