FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AFCEA International will host the first TechNet Augusta in the Augusta Marriott Convention Center on September 10-12. The overall theme of this conference and exposition focuses on the Army, including Joint Component interface, other Department of Defense organizations, Inter-Agency, Industry, and Academia, to discuss the importance of the network, security issues, and training to enable operational forces to modernize and be ready to meet emerging challenges in 2020 and beyond. AFCEA was founded at Camp Gordon in 1946, during the transition from World War II, by a group of communicators led by David Sarnoff, and they established AFCEA from the U.S. Veterans Signal Association and the American Signal Corps Association with the goal of promoting communication, dialogue, and an open and ethical exchange of information between the public and private sectors. "It makes perfect sense that AFCEA returns to its roots that were founded at then "Camp Gordon". Reflecting on that foundation and looking forward to 2020 and beyond makes attendance at this conference compelling," says General John A. Dubia, USA (Ret.), Executive Vice President, AFCEA International.
TechNet Augusta will also feature several engagement theaters on the exhibit floor and a Small Business Workshop. The exhibits are open to the public (on-site registration required); conference registration is free for military/government; there is a registration fee for industry.
