AT&T 4G LTE Expands In Sussex County
Sep 03, 2013 (08:09 PM EDT)
SPARTA, N.J., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* has expanded the nation's fastest 4G LTE network** footprint to more areas of Sussex County, bringing more customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. Today's new coverage extends AT&T's 4G LTE network already available in a number of counties in Northern New Jersey including Sussex to more consumers and businesses.
New AT&T 4G LTE coverage includes Newton, Sparta, Andover, Fredon, and Lafayette as well as along Routes 15, 206, and 94. The expansion compliments the existing 4G LTE footprint in Sussex County including Franklin, Branchville, Hamburg and on Routes 23 and 94 in these areas.
Watch here to see several of the benefits AT&T 4G LTE provides, including:
"We've seen positive response from customers on our 4G LTE launch, and as today's expansion shows, we're continuing our rollout of fast 4G LTE speeds to more areas of New Jersey," said J. Michael Schweder, Mid-Atlantic President, AT&T.
In the first half of 2013, AT&T invested more than $250 million in its wireless and wired networks in New Jersey. The 2013 year-to-date network investment builds on the nearly $2.2 billion that AT&T has invested in its New Jersey wireless and wired networks from 2010 through 2012.
AT&T's 4G Network
This expansion is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers' growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy more than 40,000 small cells and add more than 1,000 Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.
AT&T's innovation and investment have resulted in a nationwide 4G network with ultra-fast speeds and a consistent user experience. The great performance of AT&T's fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network continues to be validated by independent third-party testing:
Even as AT&T continues to expand its 4G LTE coverage, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas on our 4G HSPA+ network, unlike some competitors, where smartphone customers may fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.
AT&T's focus to deliver the best possible mobile Internet experience goes beyond 4G to embrace additional connection technologies. AT&T operates the nation's largest Wi-Fi network****** including more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers, and provides access to more than 402,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn't count against customers' monthly wireless data plans.
AT&T also is a leading developer of Distributed Antenna Systems, which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed within stadiums, convention centers, office buildings, hotels and other areas where traditional coverage methods are challenging.
