Philips Signs Services Deal With Dell

Royal Philips Electronics has signed a services contract with computer maker Dell Inc., which will manage the electronics company's desktop environment.
The deal, which also includes the purchase of Dell OptiPlex desktops, Latitude notebooks, and Precision workstations, covers more than 75,000 seats in 60 countries, the Round Rock, Texas-based, Dell said. Financial details were not disclosed. Philips said in a statement that it plans to standardize its desktop environment on Dell hardware to "provide a better customer experience for its employees, and save the company money." Dell's annual revenue from services is about $3 billion, according to the company, and is its fastest-growing offering.
