E-learning vendor OutStart Inc. has launched the latest version of its business content-authoring software, leveraging simulation software it acquired from Paragon Solutions in February. Evolution2 includes the same content-development, learning-assessment, and reporting capabilities and electronic delivery as previous versions, but the addition of simulation software lets customers create real-world situations in training courses.
Challenger Corp., which produces electronic courseware for physicians, licensed Evolution2 in April and plans to use the embedded simulation software next year. "When you test and train in emergency services, you want to try to reduce the error rate," says Bob Sweeney, CEO and president of Challenger. "If you use simulations, you uncover a person's error rate and their ability to deal with competing pressures."
Evolution2 is available as a hosted version with pricing starting at $9,000 per month, or customers can buy and install an unrestricted license on their own servers for $150,000.
