Sybase Inc. on Tuesday said it plans to ship next year a version of its Linux-based database on IBM's eServer systems.
The Dublin, Calif., software maker said its Adaptive Server Enterprise would run on the eServer OpenPower, IBM's Power5 microprocessor-based server that's tuned specifically for Linux environments. The combined products are set for release in the first quarter of next year.
"With proven price-performance, Sybase ASE for Linux is an ideal data-management platform for the IBM OpenPower platform, which is intended for enterprises seeking the most scalable and reliable Linux solutions," Raj Nathan, senior vice president for information technology solutions at Sybase, said in a statement.
