Opera Software on Tuesday released an upgrade of its mobile Web browser, which includes new features that enhance the ability to upload pictures to popular online social networks.
Opera Mini 3.0 also includes a reader for RSS feeds and a secure connection for online banking or shopping on eBay or Amazon.com, officials with the Norwegian company said.
The upgrade includes the ability to turn on the phone's camera through the browser so a picture can be taken and published immediately to popular sites MySpace, Blogger, Flickr, and Facebook. The browser also offers secure access to Web mail accounts such as Microsoft Hotmail, Google Gmail, and Yahoo Mail.
Opera Mini has more than 8 million users, according to the company. The browser is available at no charge for most mobile phones that support Java. The phone also has to be subscribed to a wireless carrier's Internet data plan. Opera Mini is preinstalled in select handsets from T-Mobile International and Telefonica Moviles in Spain.
