WASHINGTON The U.S. high-tech lobby is deepening its roots here with the creation of a think tank that will study technology policy.
The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation is backed by the Information Technology Industry Council, based here, which includes many of the top U.S. high-tech companies. The think tank will be cochaired by two former members of Congress, Jennifer Dunn and Calvin Dooley. Robert Atkinson, formerly with the Progressive Policy Institute, the think tank of the Democratic Party's Leadership Council, will serve as president.
Dunn, a Republican, represented a congressional district in Washington from 1993 to 2005. She currently works for a Washington law firm. Dooley represented a California district as a Democrat from 1991 to 2005. He is currently CEO of trade association representing the U.S. food processing industry.
In a statement announcing the think tank, backers said its goal is "to advance public policies that boost innovation, e-transformation and productivity."
