A mobile TV technology from QUALCOMM that uses the Forward Link Only (FLO) technology to deliver video to cellphones. FLO uses the same radio frequency in each cell so there are no handoffs as there are in traditional cellular systems. It also uses a layered modulation approach in which a base layer is transmitted along with an enhancement layer. The base layer reaches all phones in the total coverage area, while the enhancement layer provides a faster video frame rate in phones closer to the towers. The layered method allows for a graceful degradation of service.

The MediaFLO Network
In 2005, QUALCOMM announced that its MediaFLO subsidiary would build out a multicast 3G network in the U.S. Using the FLO interface and designed to deliver multimedia content to CDMA2000 and WCDMA operators, it is expected to be completed by 2011. See mobile TV and mobisode.
