DataPlay
A removable micro-optical disc from DataPlay, Inc., Longmont, CO (www.dataplay.com) that was designed for small, handheld devices such as PDAs and digital music players. Available in 250MB and 500MB capacities with a 32mm platter that is about 1/4" more in diameter than a quarter, the disks were used for music as well as computer data. DataPlay's ContentKey technology enabled fee-based material to be prerecorded on the disks and activated over the Web. The DataPlay disks did not catch on.

DataPlay Cartridge
The DataPlay disk provided 80% of the capacity of a CD or CD-ROM at a fraction of the size. The diameter of the single optical platter in the DataPlay cartridge was about 1/4" more than a quarter.
