D-9
(Digital 9) JVC's component digital video format, which is based on the 1/2" S-VHS tape technology, but with more robust cassettes and an advanced transport. Some D9 players also play analog S-VHS tapes. D-9 uses two codecs to provide a 50 Mbps transfer rate. Formerly known as "Digital-S," D-9 provides high quality digital video at a 4:2:2 sampling rate.
