This could be an ideal mobile device with a combination of a cell phone and built-in GPS that does not require a monthly fee to the carriers. The current GPS-enabled phones have limited capabilities and slow performance. Nuvifone may have a great significance in the timeline of mobile technology in that it may bring about freedom from the legal ban on handset use at the wheel. It may open the way for all-in-one convergence of multimedia features on the vehicle mount, as defined in Wikipedia's article: dashtop mobile.

The major question is: which network will carry the phone? Verizon will probably give it the cold shoulder; just like they did the iPhone. AT&T could, but they still have the iPhone, which is innovative, yet has several problems as a cell phone. Sprint-Nextel is a possibility though. The soon to be major player in the wireless industry is Google. Google has ton of liquid assets, which means they could partner with Garmin and take the mobile world by storm.
